KERALA PSC EXAMS POSTPONED HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO SEPTEMBER 24TH

The following civil engineering  exams postponed due to COVID has been rescheduled to 24 th September 2020.

OFFICIAL SYLLABUS IS NOT YET RELEASED SYLLABUS EXPECTED IS DIPLOMA LEVEL 


1.      Building Materials: Cement, bricks, ceramics, ferrous metal, glass, lime,  mortar, non-ferrous metals,  paint, varnish and distemper, steel, stone, timber.

2.     Surveying and  levelling: Introduction, Units,  Measurement of distance, chain and compass  surveying, Compass surveying-  Prismatic compass,  compass surveying  problems,  Plane table surveying,  Levelling and methods of levelling, Classification of levelling, contouring, theodolite surveying,  optics, tachometry,  computation of area and volume, curve,  chain survey, minor instruments, chaining on sloping ground, mistakes in chaining,Photogrammetry, filed astronomy, coordinate system

3.     Building Construction: Arches,  Brick masonry,  stone  masonry,  Doors and  windows,  DPC and  termite proofing, floors and  floorings, foundation,  Lintel,  Pile  foundation,  plastering  and  pointing,  roofs,  scaffolding,  shoring,  underpinning,  site  investigation  and  ground improvement techniques, Construction joints.

4.     Engineering Drawing: Projection of points, projection of lines and planes, projection of solids, drawing instruments, dimensioning, scales, development of surface.

5.     Environmental Engineering : Physical, chemical and biological characteristics of water, water demand,  sources of water, Screening, Plain sedimentation,  coagulation,  filtration,  Disinfection,  Distribution  of water,  valves,  Miscellaneous  treatment,  terms  in  waste  water engineering, House drainage principles, Sever design, sever  maintenance,  sewer  materials,  Sever  appurtenances,  disposal  of sewage,  quality of sewage, quality characteristics, treatment of sewage, Air pollution. Noise pollution.

7.     Highway Engineering:  History, geometric  design, classification of soil,  test for highway materials,  Design of flexible payment and rigid pavements.

8.     Railway Engineering: Introduction, components of permanent way, fixtures and fastenings, points and crossing,  railway yards, platforms
and signaling, super elevation.

9.     Irrigation:  Introduction,  Types,  Method  of irrigation,  Soil  crops,  water  requirement,  Terms  in irrigation,  water  requirement  and flow irrigation, Reservoirs and dams, spillways, Energy dissipates, canal and river training works.

10.   Concrete technology: Introduction, properties, types and methods of proportioning concrete, Production of concrete.

11.   Engineering  Mechanics : Introduction,  Moment  of inertia,  laws  of motion,  Parallelogram  law  of forces,  Parallel  forces  and  couples, Friction, gravitation, Laws of machine, Screw jack, Pulley system, Class of lever, Virtual work, D-Alembert's principle

12.   Estimation and costing : Introduction, Types of estimate, technical terms, methods of quantity surveying,  measurement of work, data book and valuation,  Methods of valuation and methods of depreciation

13.   Bridge Engineering: Introduction, Basic components and terms.

14.   Hydrology: Hydrologic cycle, measurement of rainfall, Computation of average precipitation, runoff.

15.   SOM:  SFD  & BMD, Stresses  in beams,  columns and  struts,  Power  and torsion,  Mohr circle,  Deflection-   Macaulay's method,  Double integration method, conjugate beam method

16.   RCC: Introduction, Moment of resistance, lever arm, Beam section, doubly reinforced section, Singly reinforced section, LSM,  Limiting moment of resistance, slab, column,  stair, footing.

17.   FM:   Introduction,   properties,   pressure  and  its  measurement,   Buoyancy,   kinematics,   Bernoulli's  Equation,  Turbines,   Pumps  and dimensional analysis.
